Metal Engraving
Western Bright Cut: Beyond the Basics
$1,295.00

In this course, students will enhance their skills in western-style bright cuts by applying lessons acquired throughout the week to a personal final project. Throughout the week, students will learn using a variety of practice plates to explore different bright cut elements, which they will subsequently integrate into the final projects of their choosing, brought from home. Day One will focus on flowers and flower sculpting. Day Two will focus on the gaps within scrolls and around flowers. Day Three will be all about pass-through scrolls as well as tangled and cross-over scroll work. Day Four, students will step away from laser-marked practice plates and will focus on designing and cutting their own designs onto a blank practice plate. Day Five, students will work on their personal final project, incorporating all the elements that have been practiced throughout the week.

Participants will learn how to set up and use the tools, prepare gravers, execute foundational cuts, and apply techniques consistently and effectively. This course is designed for those who have already taken a western engraving class and want to build upon that unique skillset in order to pursue more advanced training in the future.
