Metal Engraving
Ornamental Layout & Design
$1,750.00

This course teaches advanced design principles through collaborative evaluation and constructive feedback. Utilizing a comprehensive 13-point checklist, participants will learn to assess work critically, then refine designs effectively. The primary focus of the course is the integration of ornamental elements into various design projects, encompassing styles such as arabesque, liberty, and English scrolls, art deco, nouveau, and steampunk, among others.

Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own preliminary designs, whether for client projects or personal endeavors, to receive tailored guidance and direction. In the absence of personal projects, templates will be made available to support the learning experience. The last day of the course will culminate in an impromptu design challenge aimed at consolidating the concepts covered throughout the week.

This course will center on design and drawing techniques; therefore, it is anticipated that air systems and handpieces will not be used during class. It is tailored for professional engravers who aspire to enhance their design capabilities and incorporate more artistic elements into their work. Familiarity with various scroll styles is recommended for enrollment in this course. Participants are invited to bring their own works for evaluation and enhancement during the instructional sessions. Please bring your preferred drawing and sketching tools, such as tablets, drawing pads, and/or specialty pencils.
