This course provides advanced training in the Arabesque style, one of the most complex and difficult ornamental hand engraving styles. Its random growth is full of surprises, with leaves and tendrils sprouting from unexpected places yet flowing in a smooth, graceful manner. Students will have the opportunity to tackle some of the unique shading challenges that arise with this style. This course also provides hands-on training and instruction in deep relief background removal and creating three-dimensional effects through shading and crosshatching.
Participants will learn how to set up and use the tools, prepare gravers, execute foundational cuts, and apply techniques consistently and effectively. This course is intended for engravers who are already proficient in engraving and know proper tool sharpening.

Prerequisites
Completion of a GRS Basic Course or instructor approval is required, as well as an understanding of proper tool sharpening and basic engraving techniques.
