Advanced Firearms Engraving: Derringer
$1,950.00

This course provides advanced training in the art of firearms engraving. FEGA and CCA Master Engraver Brian Powley will teach students the tips, tools, and techniques necessary to master the challenging and rewarding Nimschke-style scroll. Students will learn gun metal preparation, several pattern transfer methods, workholding secrets, Powley's inlay techniques, and how to deal with problem areas on firearms. The gun that will be engraved is the Bond Arms Honey-B Derringer with a 3" Barrel. The patterns for the class are specific to the Honey-B Derringer model. The instructor will be using the 9 mm, but that model is also available in .22, .22 Mag, .380 Auto, .38 Special.

Participants will learn how to create and use the tools, prepare gravers, execute advanced cuts, and apply techniques consistently and effectively. This course is intended for experienced engravers who already have proficiency engraving on firearms. Students will be required to fill out a GRS Firearms Agreement, purchase, and transport the specified model of gun to class. Please see linked form below, in the prerequisites information section.

Seats for this course are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, but skill verification will be required before enrollment is finalized. After enrollment, a sales representative will contact prospective students with a link to upload three photos representative of the student's work. The GRS team will review these photos and finalize enrollment as long as the student's work shows capability at a minimum level. If the student's skill is not yet at the level needed to meet the demands of the course, they will be issued a refund for their deposit.
