This advanced course provides training in the core skills used in fabricating a stunning necklace featuring an emerald-cut center stone surrounded by a halo of brilliant cuts in varying sizes. Students will actively learn how to fabricate a halo-style piece in precious metal as well as how to combine different types of setting to create unique looks. This course also provides hands-on practice and instruction in advanced torch skills, decorative ajouré work, constructing and shaping claw prongs, and stamping hallmarks.

 

Participants will learn how to set up and use the tools, prepare gravers, fabricate in cold, lay out stones, and apply techniques consistently and effectively. This course is intended for those who already have experience setting stones, are proficient in torch handling, and have a basic understanding of engraving and graver sharpening.

Prerequisites

Intermediate torch skills and some basic fabrication experience is necessary. Students must possess basic engraving skills and a basic understanding of proper tool sharpening.

Graver Sharpening Knowledge: 90°, 120°, and onglette gravers

Photo application and Instructor approval is required.

We reserve your seat upon receipt of course deposit. To transfer or cancel your reservation, notify GRS at least 30 days before the class start date to transfer deposit or receive a refund, less $50.
