The iPad has become the design tool of choice for many professional artists, and in this course, Master Engraver Sam Alfano will teach you how to make it part of your workflow. Students will learn to design scrollwork using the Procreate app on an iPad and produce designs to transfer to workpieces for engraving. The course will also include a brief introduction to the Affinity Designer application for iPad and creating vector output for the best possible quality in transferring designs. iPads will not be provided for this course. Students must bring an iPad to class. The 12.9" screen is ideal, but other sizes will work. The iPad model doesn't matter, but it must have pressure-sensitive pencil capabilities! Students should also bring an Apple Pencil and have the Procreate and Affinity Designer apps installed.

Class Project(s)
Prerequisites
Basic engraving capability to sharpen basic gravers. Capability to make controlled cuts using the GRS system.
Personal iPad with Apple Pencil. Procreate app and Affinity Designer installed. Sam recommends a 12.9″ screen, but other sizes will work. Older models may be used, but MUST have pressure sensitive pencil capabilities!

We reserve your seat upon receipt of course deposit. To transfer or cancel your reservation, notify GRS at least 30 days before the class start date to transfer deposit or receive a refund, less $50.
